Ethernet: A Research Laboratory Installs Cablesys Pre-terminated Patch Panel System
Published by Cablesys on Sep 26th 2022
California – A research laboratory with a federal government department overseeing national energy installed Cablesys Pre-terminated Patch Panel System. The laboratory’s staff added forty-eight Category 6A (CAT 6A) Ethernet ports to their communications network. Cablesys helped build the materials.
Cablesys built four 24-Port CAT 6A patch panels. The process involved terminating CAT 6A keystone connectors onto 650MHz CAT 6A Unshielded Twisted Pair (UTP) cables in 25-foot lengths. The connectors were assembled into bezels, which allows them to snap into the patch panel. The cables were bundled and labeled to make routing and identification easy. All terminations were factory tested using a Fluke DSX8000 cable analyzer.
Once their staff received the materials at the project site, they screwed the patch panels onto server racks and added rear cable management brackets for support. Then, they routed the cables and snapped in the connectivity. The project required no on-site termination and testing.
