Ethernet: The US Military Installs Cablesys Pre-terminated Patch Panel System
Published by Cablesys on May 27th 2022
Nebraska – IT personnel at a US military branch deployed twelve Ethernet ports using Cablesys Category 5e (CAT 5e) Pre-terminated Patch Panel System. They needed to connect equipment to their network in an area with no data outlet. Due to sensitive data and equipment, they did not want to hire an outside contractor. Cablesys help build the materials.
Cablesys built a CAT 5e patch panel with two mobile outlet boxes. A mobile outlet box provides six Ethernet ports and is made with sturdy ABS plastic to withstand harsh environments. The process involved terminating 25-foot UTP cables with keystone connectors on one end and the mobile box on the other. Bezels were applied to the connectors, which allows them to snap into the patch panel. All terminations were tested using a Fluke DSX8000 cable analyzer. The cables were bundled and labeled to make routing and identification easy.
Once their personnel received the materials at the installation site, they screwed the patch panel onto a network rack, snapped in the connectivity, routed the cables, and laid the boxes down.
