Fiber: National Restaurant Chain Upgrades from 10G to 40G

A diner-style restaurant chain headquartered in Spartanburg, South Carolina, recently upgraded the backbone of their network. A combination of high-density (HD) fiber optic enclosures and patch panels were installed. Both incorporated LC connectivity on the front to support 10-Gigabit Ethernet and MPO connectivity on the rear to support 40-Gigabit Ethernet. By installing an HD system, they were able to add 33% more fiber than traditional connectivity onto the same rack space. Once the project was finished, a total of 384 LC ports were added.
