Ethernet: A School District Installed Pre-terminated Patch Panels
Published by Cablesys on May 3rd 2021
Saginaw, Michigan – IT staff working for a school district deployed 132 drops using Cablesys’ Pre-terminated Patch Panel System. They installed the system in a campus area network to support Gigabit Ethernet bandwidth. Cablesys helped by pre-building the patch panels.
Cablesys built 24-Port Category 6 patch panels consisting of fourteen cable assemblies with bracket panels. Each assembly was made with six twenty-five-foot CAT 6e riser-rated cables terminated to CAT 6 keystone connectors on each end. The cables were bundled and labeled to facilitate routing and identify ports. The bracket panels were modular which allow the assemblies to snap into them without any tool. The materials were packaged together with front cable management panels.
The system was pre-tested to TIA® performance standards before shipping. Once the school district received the materials, their IT staff just screwed the bracket and cable management panels onto racks, routed the cables, and snapped in the connectivity.
