Ethernet: A Federal Agency Installs Pre-terminated Patch Panels
Published by Cablesys on Nov 15th 2021
Quantico, Virginia – A federal law enforcement agency deployed 210 10G Ethernet ports over Category 6A (CAT 6A) using Cablesys’ Pre-terminated Patch Panel System. They needed to connect network equipment in areas with no data outlets. Due to sensitive data and equipment, they did not want to hire an outside contractor. Cablesys helped by building thirty-five outlet boxes with fifty-foot cable assemblies.
An outlet box provides six Ethernet ports and is made with sturdy ABS plastic to withstand harsh environments. Cablesys built them with CAT 6A Foiled Twisted Pair (FTP) keystone connectors and CAT 6A FTP cables. Using shielded connectors and cables protected the signal performance from harmful Electromagnetic Interference (EMI) commonly present around power cables, heavy machinery, and external noises that cause Alien Crosstalk.
Their staff installed the boxes by screwing bracket panels onto their network racks, snapping in the cable assemblies, routing the cables, and then laying down the boxes.
