Ethernet: An A/V and Networking Company Installed a Pre-terminated Patch Panel
Published by Cablesys on Feb 22nd 2021
Eagan, Minnesota – A company specializing in home audio, video, and networking deployed 24 data drops using Cablesys’ Pre-terminated Patch Panel System. They wanted a quick solution to connect the rear of a 110-type patch panel to a network switch. Cablesys helped by pre-building a 24-Port CAT 5e patch panel with rear patch cords.
The patch panel consisted of four cable assemblies and a bracket panel. Each assembly had six CAT 5e data ports terminated to six 25-foot CAT 5e patch cords. The patch cords were bundled and labeled to facilitate routing and identification of ports. The modular patch panel allowed the cable assemblies to snap into the bracket without any tool. The materials were packaged together with a 3-inch-deep front cable management panel to provide cable support in front of the patch panel.
Before shipping, the system was pre-tested to TIA ® performance standards. Once the A/V company received the materials, they screwed the bracket and cable management panel onto a rack, snapped in the connectivity, routed the patch cords, and plugged them into the switch.
